Will The Law of Attraction Be of Help In The Coming Economic Collapse?
The answer is yes. During the coming economic collapse of the US, in the coming crisis the Law of Attraction will become increasingly important. It is not coincidence that as the US economy starts to unravel, the Law of Attraction is attracting so much attention.
The movie, The Secret, brought the Law of Attraction into public awareness on Oprah, Larry King, Ellen, etc.. The idea that thought affects reality is not new. The Latin saying, Crede Quod Habes Et Habes–Believe You Have It And You Do–attests to its longevity.
More recently, Napoleon Hill’s “Think & Grow Rich” and Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking” have influenced generations of Americans. But perhaps this generation, those who are about to be affected by the collapse of the US economy, will have the greatest need for putting this old idea, this “secret”, into practice now.
For those new to the idea that thought affects reality, I would like to recount some of my own experiences:
In 1973, Marshall Thurber whom I had met at Hastings Law School, asked me to read “The Lazy Man’s Way To Riches” by Joe Karbo. Joe had been a used car dealer who had gotten into financial difficulty and was in danger of losing his house, his car, his assets, etc., when an acquaintance gave him what proved to be a way out, a set of instructions, a way of thinking that was to ultimately bring Joe Karbo millions of dollars.
Joe stated he later became a millionaire through the mail order business; but believed the real reason for his success was the set of instructions given to him, a way of thinking that led him out of financial difficulty into the life he wanted.
That set of instructions was, in effect, Joe Karbo’s introduction to what the movie calls “The Secret”, a process which Joe described in “The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches”, which sold over three million copies.
Marshall and I faithfully followed Joe’s instructions and within three years Marshall was a multimillionaire and I was retired. This, however, was not a state that was to last. I became aware that what I really wanted was “peace”, the pursuit of which was to radically change my life.
In 1976, through Marshall I was introduced to the just published “Course In Miracles” (Marshall had loaned them $5,000 for the 1st printing). 1.5 million copies of the Course were to be sold in 16 languages.
Because of the Course In Miracles, I now believed to achieve peace, I had to “let go and trust”. So I stopped all of my goal setting, all of my affirmations, and “let go”. What happened next was that I lost everything and then some. I realized later that at the time I had no idea what trust was. Now, I do.
This, of course, happened thirty years ago and much has occurred since then. Marshall went on to become a friend of Nobel Laureate Buckminster Fuller, an associate of Edwards Deming (whose theories transformed Japan into an industrial power), and taught many courses. Tony Robbins and Bob Kiyosaki were among his early students.
In 2005, Marshall convened The Positive Deviant Network, the PDN (a classic mix of “out-of-the-box” thinkers) in Park City, UT. Three of those in attendance were John Assaraf, Lee Brower, and Bill Harris, all three were to be featured in the movie, “The Secret”.
It was also at the PDN in March 2007 where I presented “How To Survive The Crisis and Profit In The Process”, my in-depth analysis of the US economy that predicts its imminent collapse and consequent hardship for those unprepared.
I would suggest those seriously interested in the “secret” to read “Ask and It Is Given” by Esther Hicks who appeared in the original version of The Secret. There is no better book on the subject and there is no better time to read it than now. You will need every available resource to survive the crisis.
